Principal Legal Practitioner

Danny Lagopodis

Solicitor and barrister at law. Practising since 1988, with experience in every level of the court system, from the Local Court to the High Court of Australia.

Danny Lagopodis is the principal of Good Legal. He has practised law since 1988. Good Legal opened in Wollongong in 2005.

His practice covers criminal law, commercial and business law, property and conveyancing, and wills, probate and estates, together with general legal practice. Because his practice spans several areas, he can advise on how a problem in one area affects another, such as a business dispute that puts the family home at risk.

Practice areas

  • Criminal law: trials and sentence hearings in the Local and District Courts
  • Business law and commercial contracts
  • Commercial disputes
  • Children’s law: care and protection
  • Elder law
  • Estates and probate

Court experience

Danny has appeared as an advocate in many high-profile cases. He has appeared in the Local Court, the District Court and the Supreme Court of NSW, the Family Court, the Federal Court and the High Court of Australia.

In criminal matters he runs Local Court defended hearings and District Court trials, and appears on sentence. In the Children’s Court he represents parents in care and protection proceedings.

Teaching and the profession

For more than 20 years Danny has given presentations on criminal law and on children’s care and protection matters on behalf of the Law Society of NSW and Legal Aid NSW.

He has worked as a lecturer and tutor, and for many years was a fellow in the law faculty at the University of Wollongong.

Before and beside the law

Danny came to law with a background in finance. He worked for the Australian Taxation Office and as a financial credit analyst with a large corporate bank. That background is useful in commercial, tax and fraud matters.
